Quote requests let a customer pick products on your store, fill in a short form, and ask you for a price. The request lands in ShopQuotes. You review it, adjust it if needed, and accept it. Accepting turns it into a ShopQuote you can send back. This guide takes you through the setup, in order, under Quote Requests in the ShopQuotes app.
How it works
Three sides to it.
Your customer | Sees a Request a Quote button on product pages and a floating Quote badge. They add products, fill in your form, review and submit. They get a confirmation email. |
You | The request appears under Quote Requests with the products, quantities and form answers. Change quantities, add items, write a private note. Click Accept to turn it into a ShopQuote, or Archive it. |
Automations | An automation can run the moment a customer requests a quote, for example to create the ShopQuote and email it straight away. |
Step 1: Turn on the app embed
The button, badge and popup come from a theme app embed. Nothing shows on your store until it is on.
Go to Quote Requests > Settings > Widgets.
Under App embed status, click Enable app embed. Your theme editor opens with the Quote Requests embed selected.
Turn it on and click Save in the theme editor.
Back in ShopQuotes, the status shows Active.
Step 2: Choose which products can be quoted
Go to Quote Requests > Settings > Product selection and pick All products, Specific collections or Specific products. The Request a Quote button only appears on products that match. Details in Products, prices and buttons.
Step 3: Decide what to hide
On the Widgets tab, set Price visibility and Button visibility. Hide prices on quote products so customers ask instead of seeing a number. Hide Add to cart and Buy now so a quote is the only way to order them. Each option is explained in Products, prices and buttons.
Step 4: Style the button, badge and popup
Colors, font, corner radius, button text and where the floating badge sits are all set in your theme editor. On the Widgets tab, click Customize widgets. Every setting is covered in Customize the widgets, including how to use a button of your own.
Step 5: Build the form
The form is what the customer fills in. It starts with first name, last name, email and phone. Add fields, sections and a thank you message under Quote Requests > Settings > Form builder. Field types and settings are in Build the quote request form.
Step 6: Set up email
The customer gets a confirmation and your team gets an alert. Both need a connected sender. See Email Notifications Overview.
Step 7: Test it
Open a product page on your store. Check the Request a Quote button is there.
Click it, add the product, fill in the form and submit.
In ShopQuotes, go to Quote Requests. Your request is in the Pending tab.
Open it and click Accept. A ShopQuote is created.
Tip: Once the test works, you are set up. From here on, new requests wait for you in the Pending tab. Review and accept quote requests covers the day to day.
