Resend is a sending service for businesses that want quotes to go out from their own domain without tying them to one person's mailbox. Connect it with an API key.
Note: Available on paid plans. You need a Resend account with a verified domain.
Before you begin
Resend only sends from domains you have verified with it. Do this in Resend first.
In Resend, go to Domains and add your domain, for example
yourstore.com.Add the DNS records Resend gives you at your domain registrar or DNS host.
Wait for the domain to show Verified.
Go to API Keys and create a key with Sending access. Copy it. Resend only shows it once.
Connect
Go to Email notifications > Email providers.
Under Custom provider, choose Resend.
Enter the From email. It must be on your verified domain, for example
[email protected]. The mailbox does not need to exist.Enter a From name, usually your store name.
Paste the API key.
Click Add sender. ShopQuotes checks the key and the domain with Resend before saving.
Note: If this is your first sender, it becomes your primary sender automatically and customer emails go out from it. If you already had one, open the new sender's menu under Manage senders and click Make primary to switch.
Replies
Customers reply to the From address. If that mailbox does not exist, replies bounce. Either use an address with a real inbox, or set up a forward for it at your email host.
If something goes wrong
What you see, and what to do.
Resend API key is invalid or revoked | The key was mistyped, deleted, or belongs to another Resend account. Create a new key in Resend and try again. |
The domain is not a verified sending domain in Resend | The From email's domain is missing or still pending in Resend. Check Domains in Resend and finish the DNS records. If your key is scoped to one domain, make sure it is this one. |
Could not reach Resend | Resend did not respond. Wait a minute and try again. |
Sender shows Invalid | The key stopped working, usually because it was deleted in Resend. Create a new key and update it under Change settings. |
Emails land in spam | Make sure all DNS records Resend asked for are in place, including DMARC. Send a test from Send test email and check the result in Resend's Emails log. |
Change the key or address
Open the sender's menu, click Change settings, update the fields and click Save changes. A new From email must be on a verified domain too.
