Sign in with Google to send quotes from your Gmail or Google Workspace address. Sent emails show up in that account's Sent folder, and replies land in its inbox.
Note: Available on paid plans. Works with Google Workspace accounts and personal @gmail.com accounts.
Which account to use
Use an address your business owns, such as quotes@ or sales@, not an employee's personal mailbox. If that person leaves and the account is closed, your quote emails stop.
You can only sign in as a real mailbox. A Google Group or a collaborative inbox cannot sign in. To send from a group address, add it as a Send mail as alias in the mailbox you connect. See Send from an alias below.
Connect
Go to Email notifications > Email providers.
Click Sign in with Google.
Choose the account to send from.
Click Allow. ShopQuotes asks to send email on your behalf and to see your name and email address. It cannot read your inbox.
You return to ShopQuotes with the account listed under Manage senders.
Note: If this is your first sender, it becomes your primary sender automatically and customer emails go out from it. If you already had one, open the new sender's menu and click Make primary to switch.
Set the sender name
The name customers see is taken from your Google profile. To change it:
Open the sender's menu and click Change settings.
Enter a From name, usually your store name.
Click Save changes.
Send from an alias
If your Gmail account has Send mail as addresses, you can send quotes from one of them instead of the main address.
In Gmail, go to Settings > Accounts > Send mail as and add the address. Complete Gmail's verification email.
In ShopQuotes, open the sender's menu and click Change settings.
Pick the address in the From email dropdown and click Save changes.
Only verified aliases appear. If you added one in Gmail and do not see it, close and reopen Change settings.
Note: Alias sending is being rolled out store by store. If there is no From email dropdown for your store yet, message us and we will turn it on. Reconnect the account afterwards so ShopQuotes can read your alias list.
Google Workspace admins
Some Workspace organisations block new apps from connecting. If you see a message from Google that your administrator has not allowed access, ask your Workspace admin to allow ShopQuotes.
They do this in the Google Admin console under Security > Access and data control > API controls > Manage third-party app access. Once allowed, sign in again.
Sending limits
Google limits how much mail an account can send in a day. Quotes count towards it along with normal email.
Personal Gmail | 500 recipients a day |
Google Workspace | 2,000 recipients a day |
Fine for quotes. If you send in bulk, use a dedicated service such as SendGrid or Resend instead.
Multiple accounts
You can connect more than one Google account, or mix Google with other providers. Only the primary sender is used for quotes. Switch with Make primary.
If something goes wrong
What you see, and what to do.
Could not connect that account | You cancelled on Google's screen, or the sign in timed out. Click Sign in with Google again and click Allow. |
Sender shows Invalid | Google no longer accepts our access. Usually the access was removed under Google Account > Security > Third-party apps, the account was suspended, or a Workspace admin blocked the app. Click Sign in with Google and choose the same account to reconnect. |
Emails send from the main address, not the alias | The alias is not verified in Gmail, or was removed. Verify it under Send mail as, then reopen Change settings and pick it again. |
Customers do not receive the email | Check the Sent folder of the connected account. If the email is there, ask the customer to check spam. If it is not, send a test from Send test email to see the error. |
Wrong Google account connected | Open its menu, click Disconnect, then sign in with the right one. |
Disconnect
Open the sender's menu and click Disconnect. ShopQuotes removes the account and revokes its own access at Google. Emails already sent are not affected. If this was your primary sender, the most recently connected sender takes over.
